PROJECT BE Mine

The so-called project BE Mine in Beringen (Belgium) is one of those challenging assignments. With approximately 100,000 square meters of structures to renovate, it is the largest industrial heritage site in Flanders. It also appears to be a unique edifice in Europe. And the entire project accounts for an investment of 150 million euros.

Altrad Services Benelux was responsible for the scaffolding and sheeting during the project. Over a period of 12 weeks, the main building was fully scaffolded and covered by a team of 6 to 8 people, applying innovative Rope Access Techniques.
In particular, the task required about 500 tons of material with a volume of 42,000 cubic meters to be built. A real challenge, even for such a professional team! Once the renovation is completed, the former coal mining site will be redeveloped into a residential, working and shopping area. The BE Mine project won the MIPIM Award for Best Urban Renovation Project in 2017 and the people from Altrad Services Benelux are all very proud to have been part of this memorable project!
