Owner: ADNOC Refining
Project Title: Carbon Black Delayed Coker Project (CBDC)
EPC: Samsung Engineering
Location: Ruwais, Abu Dhabi
AMB-Hertel Scope: Insulation, Scaffolding

Project Description:

The CBDC project is a milestone project for ADNOC Refining expanding upon the mega 800,000 bpd refinery in Ruwais. Designed to extract maximum value from bottom-of-the-barrel heavy oils and slurry, the Coker project will allow ADNOC Refining to recover highly specialised grades of carbon black and calcined coke to create higher value from what would otherwise be used for low-value fuel oil as well as potentially remove the need to import costly raw materials. CBDC is designed to produce 430,000 tons/year of high-quality, anode-grade calcined coke and 40,600 tpy of two different grades of carbon black.

AMB-Hertel have been partners with Samsung Engineering on this project since 2014, during which it has completed insulation and scaffolding on the tallest column in Ruwais 110 meters and have insulated in excess of 130,000 sqm of process piping and equipment’s within the critical Coker unit, which is the heart of the CBDC project. AMB-Hertel are horned to be recognised by Samsung Engineering by receiving this appreciation certificate which highlights the close working relationship between AMB-Hertel and Samsung on this prestigious project.

Owner: ADNOC Gas Processing
Project Title: Integrated Gas Development – Expansion Phase 1 Package-3 Onshore Piping and Habshan Modifications
EPC: Técnicas Reunidas
Location: Habshan, Abu Dhabi
AMB-Hertel Scope: Insulation

Project Description:

This project is part of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) programme to produce 400 MMSCFD (million cubic feet) of additional gas from its offshore fields in order to increase onshore gas sales. The project consists of several gas processing units, gas pipelines, condensate pipelines and all required interconnections. This has been a challenging project for all participants with a compressed schedule for the completion of insulation activities to meet the fixed “Gas-In” milestones established by ADNOC. AMB-Hertel rose to meet this challenge and worked tirelessly and safely during SIMOPS to ensure that the insulation activities were completed within the required project schedule. AMB-Hertel sincerely appreciate TR’s support and recognition on this important project and endeavour to carry on with maintaining the highest level of performance on this project and others.
